The oldest known PV power station in Europe is located in Ticino in southern Switzerland. This 10KW solar power generation system, referred to as TISO-10, installed on the roof of the laboratory of the Swiss University of Applied Sciences and Arts, has been running almost continuously since it was connected to the grid for 40 years.
Recently, the Swiss Federal Office of Energy invited two scientists from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne and their research team to conduct research on this power station, and the results show that it is running well!
Although the electrical layout of the TISO-10 power station system has undergone several changes, except for the few inverter replacements, all components includes solar mounting racks have been exposed to the outdoors and sunlight all the time, and have not undergone renovation or transformation, with very few components replacing the junction box and bypass diode.
In Gansu, China, there is also an old power station built in 1983, which has a history of 38 years. Although the 10kW at that time has been reduced to 7kW, it is still generating electricity stably! So the qualified fasteners is possible to have the longer life time on your solar panel mounts.
